How to create episodes chapters in Audion360?

Introduction

Podcast chapters are timestamps that allow listeners to navigate to specific segments of an episode, enhancing their listening experience. With Audion360, you can easily add chapters to your podcast episodes to make your content more accessible and engaging. This guide explains how. This chapters will be read by the podcast players that supports chapters (Apple Podcasts, Overcast, Pocket Cast, Castro, Podcast Addict, etc.).

Why Use Podcast Chapters?

Chapters help listeners:

  • Jump to specific topics or segments.
  • Skip intros, ads, or spoilers.
  • Revisit key moments easily.
  • Get a clear overview of the episode’s structure.

They are especially useful for longer episodes or those with distinct segments, such as interviews, Q&As, or multi-topic discussions.

How to Add Chapters in Audion360

Audion360 supports MP3 Files with embed chapters. You need a third-party tool to embed chapters directly into your MP3 file before uploading it to Audion360.

You can embed chapters into your MP3 file using tools like:

  • Online MP3 Podcast Chapter Editor (Browser-based, free): Processes files locally and supports chapter images and links.
  • Forecast (Mac, free): Reads markers from audio editors and embeds chapters with titles, URLs, and images.
  • Podcast Chapters (Mac, paid): Allows adding chapters, metadata, and artwork without re-encoding.

Steps:

  1. Export your episode as an MP3 file from your audio editing software (e.g., Audacity, Adobe Audition).
  2. Use one of the tools above to add chapter markers, including:
  • Start Time: The timestamp where the chapter begins (e.g., 00:03:20 or 03:20.320).
  • Chapter Title: A short, descriptive title for the segment.
  • Optional Elements: URLs or images for specific chapters (supported by some podcast apps).
  1. Upload the MP3 file to Audion360.

Note: Embedded chapters are supported by platforms like Apple Podcasts, Overcast, and Pocket Casts but may not display in all podcast apps.

Tips for Effective Chapter Creation

  • Segment Logically: Base chapters on natural breaks, such as topic changes, guest introductions, or key moments.
  • Consider Your Audience: Use listener feedback to identify popular segments that deserve chapters.

Limitations

  • Chapters are only supported for MP3 files in Audion360.
  • Some podcast apps, like web-based players, may not display chapters or chapter images.
  • If using Audion360’s dynamic ad insertion, chapter timings will not adjust automatically to account for inserted ads.
