Essential Definitions in Audion360 Podcast & Text-to-Speech Platform
Streams:
Streams definitions are different for a podcast episode or a printAudio (text-to-speech) article.
For a podcast episode: one stream refers to the flow of at least 60 seconds of audio data transmitted from the hosting platform to the listener's device. For example, each time a listener initiates playback of a podcast episode, it constitutes a stream if it lasts at least 60 seconds. Technically speaking, we both count 200 and 206 requests for more than 60s. If the stream is initiated by a listener, the audio content will be immediately listened to. However, if the stream is initiated by the app (in the case of an automatic download), it may not be listened to for a couple of hours after it is finished. If a listener listens to the same episode several times within a 24hr timeframe, the stream will be counted once.
For a printAudio article: one stream refers to the flow of audio data transmitted from the hosting platform to the listener's device. For example, each time a listener initiates playback of a podcast episode, it constitutes a stream, whatever the duration. For a printAudio, the stream is always listened to our proprietary web player.
Listening Right Now:
Listening Right Now definitions are different for a podcast episode or a printAudio (text-to-speech) article.
For a podcast episode: listening right now indicates the number of users who have started to listen to audio content within less time than the total audio content duration. For instance, if a podcast episode spans two hours, listeners will be considered actively engaged until two hours following the moment they pressed play, irrespective of pausing or stopping playback.
For a printAudio article: listening right now indicates the number of active users currently engaged in streaming audio content from the platform. This provides real-time insights into the audience's engagement with the hosted podcasts or text-to-speech materials.
Player Sessions:
Player sessions represent individual instances of interaction between a user and the audio player embedded within the podcast page or accessed through external website or applications. Each time a user engages with the player by pressing play, it constitutes a player session. Monitoring player sessions helps in understanding user behavior and optimizing the playback experience.
Ad Opportunities:
Ad opportunities refer to the moments within the audio content where advertisements can be inserted to the listener. An ad opportunity is counted when the listener download the audio content spot. These opportunities are defined in the Audion360 platform, based on the duration of the audio files, and the available ad-breaks (pre-roll: before the content, mid-roll: inside the content, post-roll: after the content).
Impressions:
Impressions represent the instances when an advertisement is successfully played to a user within the audio content. It signifies that the ad has been entirely downloaded and therefore potentially listened by the listener. Impressions are a key metric used to measure the effectiveness and reach of advertising campaigns on the platform, aiding advertisers in assessing the performance of their ad placements.
